WILSONS PROMONTORY

W I L S O N S  P R O M O N T O R Y
National Park

06/05/2016 – 07/05/2016

I have been wanting to go here for a long time. My friend Lauren and I decided to pack our things and head for a two-hour drive (in the dark).  We aimed to see the Meteor shower – and even try and photograph it. We sat under the stars for ages watching countless shooting stars (meteors?), eating chicken wings that Lauren cooked for about an hour (we weren’t too keen on getting sick).  We had intentions to sleep in a tent – but why tent when you can fit a mattress into the back of the car? We were just a bit disorganised, really.

We woke up the next morning before sunrise, walking around the park in search of things that would captivate us. We decided on a beach with tall sand dunes and amazing cliffs. We were desperate to see the sunrise and the lighting change, and the result was beautiful.

Watching Lauren struggle climbing up and down the steep sand dunes was probably one of the funniest things I have seen. The poor girl just kept slipping.

Once we finally got up the top, we had to take two of our twenty layers off – it was seriously a workout. We ran around here for a few hours, running around and taking it all in.

On the way home we went to Flying Cow Cafe. As soon as we walked in the woman offered us freshly baked scones and homemade raspberry jam. The two of us sat alone in the cafĂ© which was dressed entirely in all things cows – cow related framed puns included (udderly ridiculous, I know).

Hope you enjoyed the snaps -

Sydney | During the Week and a Walk to Manly

DURING THE WEEK

WALK TO MANLY

On one of the weekends I thought I would make it an active one - and this included doing a seriously long walk (was not expecting it to be this long) to Manly beach. I started at about 11am and arrived there near sunset. I also did this alone - funnily enough I met some people along the way. You get to walk along the bay, through the bush, on rocks - everything really. But I can't tell you how much I recommend it. I was able to Sydney in a whole new light. Go on a nice day with a friend - and trust me, it will be a day well spent.

During the week while I was in Sydney, I was working. Which was honestly so much fun. I am so thankful for the people I met and the things I got to see and do. I am grateful for all the individuals who helped me along the way.

My usual routine in the morning was going for a run, drinking A LOT of water then making myself some breakfast. It was usually cold (not Melbourne cold though) - so a nice warm turtle neck did the trick. For transport I caught the bus to the ferry and then on the train. I didn't even care about all the modes of transport I had to take to get to work - because I honestly loved what I was doing and was excited every step of the way.

The time in Sydney taught me a lot of things - and one of them is that I just love working hard. I don't know why, because at the end of the day, when I would have to take all the same form of transportation home, I would still walk home feeling great. Ready for bed - but great.

I think it's very important to love what you do - but also make the best of every opportunity that is shown to you. Take it. If it feels right, do it. Just do it.

That's my wise words for the day.

Sydney | Being a Tourist

Bloom - Healthy Food Co.

So, as a true tourist, I went and saw some of the iconic sites. I felt like this was a must - as the last time I saw them was when I was 7 years old. I have to say, they are truly breathtaking.

Each weekend, I would make sure I adventure somewhere new around Sydney. This was the second weekend - and I thought that I just needed to see what people travel around the world to see. I took the photographs of the Harbour bridge and Opera House from the Museum of Contemporary Art. I highly recommend visiting this gallery - as not only is the art extremely cool, but so is the gift shop and the cafe.

I then made my way to the markets - which were okay… Yes, they were a little touristy. But I found myself visiting little galleries surrounding them. So I put into my mind that the week after I would be going and finding some of Sydney's infamous markets!

My latest obsession (food obsession) is Pancakes - but 'healthy' organic pancakes. I have never been a huge pancake person, but for some reason I am loving Buckwheat pancakes. Bizarre - but it's happening. So I highly recommend Bloom - The Healthy Food Co. - as these were literally the best I have ever had.

Although, I am firmly back in Melbourne (for right now…) - I look back at being in Sydney and miss it a little. I also want to share it a little! One more post to come from Sydney.

Sydney | Arrival

KITCHEN BY MIKE

COCO CHOCOLATE

KOMBUCHA

SYDNEY.

I have moved to Sydney for a little while.

I am blown away by the landmarks. I am also blown away at how incredibly easy it is to get lost. I have been here four day's and have found myself getting lost every time I leave the house.

I am working here in Sydney, and started on Monday. I haven't had a chance to find my feet or my bearings - but finding different ways to get places is exciting. Catching a ferry in the morning and seeing the Harbour Bridge and all the houses is an incredible experience.

Although in this short amount of time, I have found two places that I really love -

If you have a chance, try the Ginger and Rose Milk chocolate at Coco Chocolate - and a homemade hot chocolate. The people are lovely and the chocolate is amazing. Obviously.

KOMBUCHA
The woman I am living with, Robyn (who is an incredible and enlightening woman), showed me how to make her Homemade Kombucha. This is a weekly ritual and is always done on a Sunday. It was so interesting to see the process. Kombucha also taste amazing - Robyn's does anyway. Can't say that I have tried any other.
